Rainy Day at Sasamat Lake

When it’s raining in Vancouver, you can either stay cozy at home or embrace the wet weather. I’m usually the former, but a few days ago we decided to brave the rain.

I was surprised at how many wet weather warriors were out at Sasamat Lake in Coquitlam. There were people kayaking, fishing, swimming, running, and even barbecuing. They didn’t seem to be deterred or bothered at all by Mother Nature.

I will say it was nice to be outside despite the rain. The air feels especially fresh and walking among the trees meant that we didn’t get rained on as much. Plus, this type of weather creates nice, soft lighting and all the moody vibes.

Pro-Tip: If you’re driving and want to walk the floating dock, the city of Coquitlam has now put up ‘No Parking’ signs up and down the road next to the nearest trail. Your best bet is to park at the White Pine Beach parking lot and make the short walk through the woods around the lake to the dock. It shouldn’t take you more than 15-20 minutes!
